CogniPage is an offline-first desktop app that quietly follows along as you read, then builds the flashcards, assessments, and spaced-recall schedule that make knowledge stick and ensure you never forget what you read — no copy-paste, no document upload or manual note-taking required.

As you read, CogniPage captures the paragraphs you dwell on. When you choose to, AI distils them into high-quality flashcards and full assessments — multiple choice, multi-select, true/false, matching, and short answer — then grades your answers and diagnoses where understanding slipped. Recalls are scheduled with spaced repetition so they resurface right before you'd forget.

Yes. Select text in any app — a browser, a PDF, anywhere — and press the global shortcut (⌘⇧H on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+H on Windows) to save it as a note. CogniPage keeps the original source text alongside your own edits, and AI automatically gives each note a title and summary, files it into the right folder, tags it, and links the concepts it touches. You can edit everything in a Markdown editor and search across all your notes instantly.

Yes. Create a material for your book, then point any connected camera at the page and CogniPage reads along as you turn pages — continuously, or one page at a time with “Capture now,” skipping pages you've already read. Recognition runs on your device and only the text is kept; the page image is never stored or synced. Your printed reading then feeds the same flashcards, assessments, recall schedule, and knowledge map as everything else, with a badge marking what came from a hard copy.

The Knowledge Map is an interactive graph of your entire second brain — folders, notes, concepts, and the materials they came from — connected in a single view, including concept-to-concept links that reveal how your ideas relate. Pan, zoom, and click any node to read the note behind it.

Four living views turn your study history into a picture of mastery: the Mind Map connects materials to concepts and cards; the KWL Chart sorts concepts into Know / Want to know / Learned per material; the Forgetting Curve plots your real memory decay over time; and the Retention Heatmap shows where your memory runs hot and cold across topics. The Knowledge Map ties your captured notes and their concepts into one connected graph.

Reading along means seeing what is on your screen, so CogniPage asks for:

• Accessibility (macOS) or UI Automation (Windows) — to read the text of a window you've approved, through the same interface screen readers use. Required.
• Screen Recording (macOS) or screen capture (Windows) — to read text from windows that expose none, such as image-only PDFs, and to capture the audio of a video you're watching. Both are processed on your device.
• Camera — optional, and only if you choose to track a printed book.

Your operating system grants each one, and you can withdraw any of them at any time without uninstalling. CogniPage then asks you separately about each website, document and video — nothing is captured until you say yes. See How capture works for the complete account.

Yes. Capture happens locally on your device by default, and you approve each site, document and video individually. Only the text needed for an AI feature is sent to our backend to produce that specific result, and we never use your content to train models. CogniPage never records keystrokes, never opens your microphone, and never stores screenshots. Read How capture works and the full Privacy Policy for details.

No. The installer installs CogniPage and nothing else — no bundled software, toolbars, browser extensions, or advertising. It doesn't change your browser settings, search engine, home page, or system configuration, and it doesn't start itself when you turn on your computer.

Two components are fetched afterwards, only when you first use the feature that needs them: an on-device speech-recognition model (~180 MB) the first time you switch on a watch-along, and Microsoft Edge WebView2 on Windows if your machine doesn't already have it. You can delete the speech model again from Settings.

Our Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a "Windows protected your PC" notice the first time you run it. Choose More info → Run anyway. A code-signing certificate is in progress and will remove the notice.

In the meantime we publish a SHA-256 checksum next to the download so you can confirm you have the exact file we built — run Get-FileHash .\CogniPage_*_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 in PowerShell and compare. Our macOS builds are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so they open normally. See verifying your download.

CogniPage is offline-first — reading capture and reviewing your existing cards work without a connection. AI generation and cross-device sync run when you're back online.

CogniPage runs on macOS 12+ and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Your materials and progress sync securely across your devices when you sign in.

CogniPage is free to download and try. AI-powered features run on a subscription, with one-time credit top-ups available. You can manage your plan any time from the in-app billing portal.

Open the billing portal from your account in the app to cancel or change your plan. You'll keep access until the end of your current paid period. See our Terms & Conditions for billing details.

CogniPage removes like any normal application — no survey, no confirmation loop, and nothing left running in the background.

macOS

1. Quit CogniPage.
2. Open Applications and drag CogniPage to the Bin.
3. Optionally revoke the permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security (Accessibility, Screen Recording, Automation, Camera) — removing the app makes them inert either way.

Windows

1. Quit CogniPage.
2. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find CogniPage, and choose Uninstall.

Your captured reading, flashcards, review history and settings live in one folder on your machine. Uninstalling doesn't always remove it, so delete the folder yourself if you want every trace gone:

• macOS — ~/Library/Application Support/io.CogniPage.CogniPage
  In Finder, press ⇧⌘G, paste that path, then move the folder to the Bin.
• Windows — %APPDATA%\CogniPage\CogniPage
  Press Win+R, paste that path, then delete the folder.

That folder holds the local database, your preferences and the diagnostic logs, and — if you ever used a watch-along — the downloaded speech-recognition model. If you signed in, also sign out before uninstalling so your saved session is cleared from the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.
