Flashcards and spaced recall
How cards are made, how to review them, and what the four rating buttons really do.
Flashcards are where reading turns into memory. CogniPage writes them from your own captured passages, then schedules each one to come back at the moment you are about to forget it — the principle behind spaced repetition, driven here by the FSRS algorithm and your own answer history.
Getting cards made
Cards are never created behind your back. There are three moments you can ask for them:

When you finish reading
Close or switch away from a tracked window and a Finished Session? prompt asks whether you want to check that you remember it. Yes, create flashcards turns what was captured into cards.

From the tray
The same offer waits in the menu-bar or system-tray menu as Assess "…", for when the prompt appeared while you were busy.

From "Waiting for you" on Home
Anything you read but never carded collects there. Recall this generates the cards, Later postpones it, and the bell icon stops it asking about that reading again.
How many cards each session produces is set by Settings → Flashcards → Cards per session (five by default, one to twenty). Generating cards needs an account and spends AI credits.
Reviewing
Press Start review session. For each card: read the prompt, answer it in your head — properly, out loud if you can — then reveal the answer and rate how it went.

| Hard | You got there, but it was a struggle. | Comes back sooner than last time's gap would suggest. |
| Good | You recalled it correctly. | The interval grows — the normal answer. |
| Easy | Instant, no effort. | The interval grows sharply; you will not see it for a while. |
The schedule is only as good as the ratings you feed it. Marking a card Good when you actually guessed teaches the model you know something you do not, and it will not come back until it is long gone.
Keyboard
- Space or Enter — reveal the answer.
- 1 2 3 4 — rate Again / Hard / Good / Easy once the answer is showing.
You can also drag the card sideways to rate it, and click or tap it to flip.
Due, and everything else
The cards scheduled for right now. This is the pile that matters; when it is empty, you are done for the day.
Your whole collection, searchable across both prompt and answer — useful for checking what a material actually produced.
The material picker at the top scopes everything below it, so you can review only the cards from one book or one course.
The retention target
Settings → Flashcards also holds your desired retention: how much you want to remember, as a percentage. Raise it and cards come back more often — more work, better recall. Lower it and reviews thin out, at the cost of forgetting more. The default is a well-tested balance; change it only if you have a reason to.
Recalls while you read
Settings → Recall style decides whether a due card can reach you mid-reading. The HUD overlay shows a full recall card over whatever you are reading; None keeps everything in the dashboard for when you choose to sit down with it.
