Updating CogniPage

How new versions arrive, and why nothing installs without you pressing a button.

CogniPage checks for a new version when it starts, and tells you if there is one. It never installs anything on its own.

When an update is available, a banner appears at the top of the window. Press Update now to download and apply it — the app restarts itself when it is done. Dismiss the banner and nothing happens; you carry on with the version you have, and you will be offered it again next time.

Checking by hand

Settings → About & updates shows the version you are running and a Check for updates button, which reports what it finds — that you are up to date, or that a specific version is available. The version is also printed at the bottom of the sidebar, which is the quickest way to confirm an update actually landed.

Why updates are safe to accept

Every update is cryptographically signed by us, and the signature is verified before anything is applied. An update that fails verification is refused. macOS builds are additionally signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple.

Nothing is lost in an update.

Your materials, cards, review history and settings live in your own data folder and are not touched. Updates change the application, not your library.

What changed

Release notes for each version are published with the download on cognipage.io.
